I had to keep on reading just to see how it would turn out
In this fast-paced, action filled and suspense-fully woven drama Kelly faces many situations that involve her family, friends and personal self. A stalker and a threat to her neighborhood prompt Kelly to look for answers that incites the persons pulling the strings to wreak havoc on her home and her life. Mike and the wonderful Keisha are there to lend a hand to keep the family safe from harm. The author did a good job in keeping me on pins and needles as to what was going to happen next. Kelly is such a independent and determined characters that I'm enjoying seeing how much she has grown from the first book, surrounded by a great secondary cast. This is a great read and this series keeps getting better and I can't wait to read the next book in this fabulous series.
What a great author. This book keeps you guessing what's going to happen next. I've read 2 other books from this series and this one was just as great.

The story is a good one, hard to put down. But Kelly O'Connell needs to know more about how Realtors work. You don't just pick up some leaflets about houses and head out the door to look at them. You have to find out what the buyer is looking for, look up what is for sale with those characteristics, etc. on the computer and then call to make appointments through the central showing system. These things are not important to the mystery but they lend authenticity to the story.
My wife really likes Judy Alter's historical fiction, so we tried this series featuring a Ft. Worth real estate agent-cum-detective. The characters are well-drawn, and the heroine is likable, but the stories are strained, and the resolutions highly implausible. This story and denouement in this one bordered on the ridiculous.
I very much liked the tone of this book, mainly because the family dynamic struck me as real and unforced, as did the secondary characters. Real estate agent Kelly O'Connell is determined to stop a big box superstore from opening in her historic neighborhood. On top of dealing with the different city factions for and against the project, Kelly's policeman husband is seriously injured in an auto accident that kills a nineteen-year-old girl. The driver at fault escapes, and the twin of the victim starts stalking Kelly. There's a lot going on in the story, none of which I'll divulge in a review, but Ms. Alter neatly handles the different threads to the final, exciting conclusion. Definitely recommended reading.
