Three and a half stars.Caroline and her parents are heading west via the Oregon Trail in order to escape the horrible memories associated with the Civil War. The first day of her journey, Caroline finds herself attracted to John Brand. But she knows between her plain looks and her overprotective parents, there's no way John will court her.
Meanwhile John can't take his eyes off of Caroline. He wants to court her, but with his terrible past he wonders if any woman will ever want him. Can Caroline and John have a happily ever after?
This was a cute book, simple, easy to read with likeable characters. I just wish the story had been a bit expanded on. It seemed like Caroline and John fell in love at first sight, and there was very little development of their relationship. The story was also highly predictable. And there were a good amount of typos.
Overall, a fair read.

I couldn't put this book down...Lola truely has a knack for storytelling! Her characters are well developed and memorable. I am anxiously awaiting the next book in this series. I have read and love ALL her books thus far. Keep 'em comin' Lola Grace -) I'm hooked!
Very rushed, no depth. It was like reading the back cover of a book--not a "real" book. I don't understand the high ratings. At least it was clean.
Wonderful start to what is sure to be a fantastic series! The author has well thought out storylines and characters. You get to know all the characters who will most likely have their own stories. You will find yourself cheering on the good guys and wanting to go into the book and shoot a few bad guys!
Eagerly awaiting more in this series!
A special western historical romance kindle book from at a special price. The story was very informative as to what happens on a Wagon Train heading west,the events that took place on their travels. Finding real love was a bonus in their experiences with other people on the Wagon Train. Meeting new friends as they settled in a new town also added to their happiness.
This is a wonderful story about a great love between John and Caroline. they have a wonderful family wow 6 sons and 1 daughter.
Caroline had great parents who still had a great love for each other and a surprise baby girl late in life. I really like to see how John,
Overcame his TRAGEDY with his brother to go on to have a full and happy life with a loving family. I look forward to reading the
Next books of the Men of Turtlecreek series.
This story is packed with adventure, heartache, struggles and love. A wonderfully told story with unbelievable twist and turns. A gifted and creative way to tell a story. Happy Reading💖💖💖💖💖
